M37

Suffocation precedes screams
she seemed determined to translate as
“succumb
to that which heaven
hesitates to designate
as the efforts of a man
believing it appropriate to …
… “BURN! BURN! BURN!”"

The Presence Of Sarah (2010-02-13)

“I’ve a reluctance to extend this preference of men”
deterred kisses
blown (as if in appreciation of
her implicit fear of
bruised and lacerated skin)
from the edge of the pool …
… blown to commemorate another late night
surrendered to justify the presence of Sarah
smiling in spite of her sudden interest in
redemption under the moonlight

The Massacre III of III

Having emerged
dependent on the scent of her panties
preserved to appease disciples defined as
“too anxious to tease”,
her agent descends
content with the selection of women rescued from the bar
to contend with her silence by kneeling …
… revealing an aversion to feeling repulsed
by that which is referenced
in deference to the memory of Sarah

At SkyBar (with Lauren & Evan)

Whether willing to identify
the ghost of Ramona as the reason to reveal
“It’s finally an appropriate evening to stray”
or pray for endurance,
she’ll stay
to (discretely) address the presence of blood
ivy failed to completely conceal,
by appealing to Evan
“PLEASE, may I assume you’ll confess?”
while kneeling beneath an impressive array of stars …
… an accessible (and relieving) substitute for heaven

San Fernando (coda)

The sun appears
to have resolved her resentment of
that which appears to resemble success …
… the pool’s reflection of skin
addressed despite the presence of men
impressed by the absence of leather
in her
inappropriate interpretation of heaven

Empire (HAIL! HAIL!)

Prone to appease by appearing desperate …
… breathing
“They’ll profit
while I’ll conceal my veneer and assume
(as a much prettier prophet)
I too shall walk on water”,
Simon continues to conspire against
the few he’d prefer to inspire

That he exists
to represent the boldest of whispers
presented to commemorate the existence of
an appreciation of discretion
suggests
an indefensible declaration of love
or a commendable perception of poor taste
is preferable to the sound of
“HAIL! HAIL!”
from the last of the replaced radios

Meghan’s Party (12:26 AM)

He appears
impressed to have witnessed
a resilient assemblage of friends
pretending to reluctantly anoint one another as …
… relevant,
disappointed by sentiment
expressed prior to regarding the guardrails
(behind Meghan)
as obscene,
screaming “We’re convinced!
We really do bleed!”

Grace (A Silhouette … A Distinct Witness To Fame)

Given to reconcile poverty with tension
redesigned to attract a new definition of defeat,
the response “…I followed to recover”
proved sweeter to his guests than the emergence of Grace
“a silhouette … a distinct witness to fame”
taken to light,
presenting withdrawal as beauty
retained by the loss of blood and the failure of satin
to alleviate pain usually sought for attention.

“SHAME” (he repeats),
to dispute tonight’s tears -
tonight’s likely opponents
to tonight’s prevailing veneer,
employs the crowd as the ploy to destroy her will to retreat …
… to survive as his starlet.

Seventeen Thirty-Five (feat. Anessa)

Inquiring (from the floor)
“Might I inspire the DJ to illuminate
a presence hesitatant to still define me
as a ‘beautiful whore’?”
to demonstrate
she’s a reason to reveal new blisters
and assimilate tonight
despite the desire to stand
before the hands of another handsome man …
… a discerning acquaintance of waves
crashing miles and miles away,
she finally resembles a woman ready to say
“don’t hurt me”

The Jaguar

She chose to rely on the influence of Dior
to distract men (instead of heaven)
while concealing
the remaining residue of coke on the floor,
attracting other women willing to imply
their own allegiance to God
belies a desire to reveal the alluring scent of gunsmoke,
provoking that which tends to invoke a mischievous smile …
… a rather intimidating growl

To reveal
there is merit in resisting
that which prayer attempts to impair
should the desire to commemorate Noëlle
affect a life defined not by heaven
but of the faith of the familiar,
a few patient angels
should prepare to define “fortunate”
or compare her memories … with mine

The Audition

Rather than refuse to condemn
an exuberance few will ever present …
… as kisses prepared
in spite of that which she’ll still find alluring
while whispering “it’s her”
prior to appearing deceptively demure
before (yet another) broken mirror,
they shall choose to lament this performance
and the subsequent absense of applause

Chloe & Benjamin (scene 139)

It is luxury,
despised so as to court the resolve
of that which he could reluctantly cease to define as
“my severance”
in the guise of yet another she’ll regret to address as
“the beautiful bride”,
that shall provide comfort once she (cleverly) pretends
their kisses are inspired by love …
… lamenting
“this set, though my enemy, permits my lips to (once more) implore
‘you may never forgive me,
but might ‘spite’ be replaced with ‘I might still adore you’?'”

For Kathleen

With only regret
present to represent how to feel,
to reprise such guilt without emphasizing the fear in mentioning,
“purity,
as a guise often ignored than regarded as pity
preferred over absence,
appeared vulgar
in contrast to salient praise-laden heresy
believed in
to believe in what I believed in once … you”
aggression,
found integral to my obsession to doubt
the significance of me in your arms,
becomes harder to understand while sleeping beside you

Grace (A Resolution)

To demonstrate there’s a reason to plead
“eliminate my veneer and prepare to proceed
(for the sake of withdrawl) with patience”
she shall appear irreverent
while learning to (at least) whisper
“I must return unable to see you as significant …
… I must prefer to be alone”

Paolo (A Monster)

Willing to mention
the significance of sincere applause,
he (clearly) recalls
her indifference to prayer in the presence of other victims …
… women defined by their own reluctance to scream
“his reputation as a monster
seems (only) appropriately obscene”

Prepared to ally with than benefit from shadows
(observed from the floor)
the remains of Francesca
shall address the presence of blood
produced to eliminate her obsession with Paolo …
… a casualty of fate
lying (undressed) between the bed
and the light often ignored from the hotel corridor

For Anessa (2nd version)

With a reason to engage with a smile,
he (finally) reconciles breathing
“I’ve seldom sought tears
inspired by pavement
used to circumvent the effects of the sun”
with his admiration of the prettiest daisies
until her memory’s opposed …
… and the prior flowers fade away

Francesca

The consumption of white roses
or the whispers inspiring applause
defining his reasons for alluding to her tonight
might seem lovely from the fire
long admired from her side of the bed
should this domain remain claimed by the mourning
to (simply) appraise the fortunate …
… the dead
(while the breeze settles,
then pretends the presence of feet
represents the essence of failure
felt beneath what remains of their sheets)

could no longer explain the value of Bobby
revealed to be tired …

concealed two nights prior
to appeal to and inspire angels
conspiring to kneel despite the presence
of fire (difficult to maintain)

Tonight
she might decline a john’s kisses
and assemble the remaining women
reciting (on queue)
“we too refuse to amuse
the last of these tantalizing ‘Gibson’ girls”
as long as the ballroom
continues to smell of iodine
and the gentlemen of (that which she misses) …
… undiluted wine

From The Heavens To The Hills

He prays he’s …
a conscience
identical to his victims’,
identified as the city’s definition of a hero
reminiscent of a once beloved refugee
ceding
“most proceed to please me
once the sun reveals
there are ghosts along Mulholland’s
eucalyptus and palm trees”
to avoid seeming resilient
to those who refuse to harness
their own desire to appease the competition
considered too harmless
to eventually claim residence up in heaven

Angel In The Valley

Despite being
too far from heaven
and only 22 miles
from a fate represented by the shore,
he leaves
denying the template for love
should be referred to as
“redemption” from the freeway,
appropriately exceeding
that which had come to be expected …
… his (reported) lack of originality

(from the collection “M”)

I’ll persist
to make this apprehension fake
as long as I’m replaced with applause
you insist
few could obtain
by remaining closest to my bed,
addressed as obsessed with “kisses I’m use to”
to sweeten the blood beneath their knees

Premiere At The Arclight (The Reunion Of Chloe & Benjamin)

Perhaps an additional wink
may preserve that which he’s observed …
… a gesture implying
“there’s time to reconcile”,
reflecting her fear of women
other men have yet to adorn

Though proud to provide a reason to confess
“prayer,
to validate his behaviour,
must fail to consider fate” …
… as witness (from the balcony)
to the reception deemed “inappropriate” by the press
(reminiscent of that which she used to allow),
she seems not only misleading,
but is a bit responsible for his presence
and how his apology will always be remembered

The Spotlight

August 2, 2010

Such a facade prompts further attention
administered through mourning
she,
still grieving,
implied is faith in youth
greater punishment
(objective loyalists provide)
prevented
without admonishing prejudice
in mans’ criteria for emasculating behavior
witnessed prior to the government’s reluctance
to wage war upon itself,
securing destabilization as a means of survival
communion,
forged in dismissive deliberation
(liberal and suffice),
initiates as command
“lie and force reward to avoid natural selection”

Taylah V of VI (The Mother; The Eulogy)

That she recently developed the desire to argue
“conceit,
without the approval of one’s own mother,
merits attention”
during the eulogy
designed to condone
the posthumous praise for singing
“God’s Travelled Closer “
prior to deeming
“we’re encouraged with the results of blasphemy”
too vulgar to reference
or signal the (final) significant withdrawal,
worries those who believed
her intention was to ignore the whore
pink terrazzo and brass stars failed to faithfully restore

July 20, 2010

And, how does one construct a sequel to that which has yet to present it’s complete self?
With so many pieces lying about to be finished for their final presentation, there were two choices to be made … present “Soldado Instrúyete” as a rather bloated assault on the reader whose patience may thin after 30 poems or split the poems into two collections?
The first may result in the reader forgetting about the first half’s poems once they’ve plowed through the entire collection, or simply bore the reader who may grow weary of the collection’s over-presented themes and style.
The second … well, obviously the second is the ideal presentation, allowing me to indulge in the subject matter, characters and style I’ve found quite amusing (and addictive) without demanding too much from those looking to appreciate art … not drown in it. They will (as a result) enjoy and perhaps remember each of the poems (much like their enjoyment with a concise album of music).
So, how might volume 2 differ from volume 1? Honestly, I doubt there will be much to tell the two apart (other than the artwork and titles). Volume 2 will present a new set of characters within the poetry, but, their lives shall be as those found in volume 1.
Shall these collections be received as I currently see them as (my finest artistic achievement) or will their presentations only allow them to be referred to as my folly?
